Treatment

Specific treatment for a wrist fracture may include:       

        Elevation of the wrist

        Rest: Avoid activities that cause pain

        Sling: Prolonged immobilization in a sling can lead to  frozen shoulder

         Cold compresses

         Elastic wrap

         Cast or splint for a wrist fracture

          Narcotic oain medication: For moderate to severe pain & for short term use only
        
          Physical therapy for a wrist fracture
        
          Occupational therapy for a wrist fracture
        
           Surgery for a wrist fracture
                  -In order to repair fractured bones
                  -Appropriate for grossly displaced or severely angulated fractures.
