Colles fracture diagnoses


Subjective Diagnosis:


Information from the Patients, their family and physician

ØB.T report of discomfort (pain, stiffness and swelling of the wrist region), Poor ROM performance, Weak Gripping strength and reduction in ADL capacity.
 
ØPhysician will inquire Pt.'s Pass medical History ( IE previous incident of falling on an outstretched hand )
Objective Diagnosis:
Goes through a physical examination
ØBegin with comparing injured extremity with an uninjured side
ØLook at injury site for visible symptoms (Skin breakage, swollen bone)
ØPalpate the bones by grasping to check for sign of crepitus and if great amount of pain then it  mostly likely a fracture.
ØRadiographic is used to determined the direction of displacement, degree of  shortening,involvement of the articulating surface and the exact type of fracture incur so that proper treatment can be perform.   
ØCT scan is used to detect if there is any small fractures or dislocations of wrist bones.

Pictures of wrist to check for broken bones.
